Writing That Retells a Favorite Book or Story

Parents can use a strategy that teachers use to help improve children's reading and writing —— retelling.  After reading a story or a children's book, parents can work with their children to retell the story orally and then to write and illustrate their retelling.  This strategy will help children comprehend what they read.
